Dominick got his annual lab results – and all looks well again

Last week Dominick got his annual lab results back – all looks well again. The only thing we will need to address is his Iron is somewhat low. A 6 week treatment of 4mg of iron a day and a follow up blood test should do the trick.

Dominick started his first playgroup – and he loves it

Dominick just started his Thursday playgroup. This playgroup is from 12:30pm until 3pm. The teachers are just wonderful and he is integrated with other 2-3 year olds. The student teacher ratio is 2 to 1. Also there are only 2 other special needs students in his group, which means that he gets all the attention. The first thing he did when we arrived, was crawl to the book shelf. He emptied it out. After 20 minutes he was surrounded by 40+ books, which he quickly glanced at. Dominick started sightreading with the help of the “My Baby Can Read” program

Dominick started using the “Your Baby Can Read” program in the beginning of June 2009. After one week of watching the starter DVD of the program, he started copying some of the words that were presented in it while he was watching. He used approximations, but never the less it was a first and a great breakthrough in his speech development. After one month of letting him watch the starter DVD, I introduced the slide-out flash cards (they have the word on the outside and the image of the word on the inside).
